365 Photos Day 88

Early morning on Kiawah Island, taken in February, 2012. I miss the peacefulness which comes from walking the beach at any time of day. I had an awful time getting a good sunrise photo. I cannot remember if the was 6 or 7 am. It was breezy and quiet. Nothing moving in the dunes and no birds on the beach. I have missed this.

365 Photos Day 87

Looking through the screen at my Yucca plants which will be dug up this spring. I also saw some other melting taking place.

I can see my front porch again and  grass around the tree as well as leading up to it. Maybe, just maybe spring will be here sooner rather than later.

365 Photos Day 86

Didn't matter which window I looked out, it was grey and gloomy today. This is out the dining room window looking south. Rained all night, but did nothing but make the snow an ice field. It was snowing when I woke up. Ugh.

So once again there is snow on the porch and the basement door. Someone shook the snow globe. I'm really tired on living in a snow globe. I'm trying to find the glass to break it.

365 Photos Day 84

I read this book after coming back from South Carolina in 2012. I found it compeling. Partly because on my last day in South Carolina before church I was driving around Rockville on Wadmalaw Island. I saw a lot which had been cleaned off. There were large logs stacked and I thought it might make a good building site. I turned around because it was a dead end street. As I came back I looked at the logs. Stopped my car and reached for my camera. Slowly I backed up. What I had seen was no longer there. I saw Jesus painted on the ends of the logs, it looked as though he was speaking to children. There was nothing, just the logs. I sat there for a minute as I let what happened sink in. When I came home I mentioned it to a friend and she said I have a book you need to read. Read this one first and then the children's version. I cried when I got to the end where he finally saw a picture of Jesus as he had seen him.
This is the photo Colton saw and this is the man I saw in the field by the logs:

This is why I want to move. I know where I belong. I got the message, loud and clear.

365 Photos Day 83

I even try for healthy breakfast. For those who don't know these are poached eggs (or 3 min. eggs) on a slice of toast. While it looked good and tasted great. My stomach has not been cooperating to day and I have eaten nothing since. It's really bad when tea does not taste good. Someone please bring the Vernors...not diet.

Took a photo the other day, before snow blanketed the driveway again, of my rock garden from my garage. This is the look from my front door. Still nothing coming up in there. Have about given up on spring for this year. Let's move right to summer.

365 Photos Day 81

I didn't take this photo. In fact, I think it came from morguefiles.com. The point is I'm different. Walk to my own drum. I don't always fit it. I no longer try. I have learned to accept myself for who I am. Those who love do and those who don't it's their loss. I will always be different. It's not a bad thing.

Yep, food again. I put two tablespoons of shredded cheese on it after I took this. It was dinner. I cannot begin to tell you how much I have missed fresh foods this winter. Not am I just eating for health. I am eating healthy things.

Yep, way different tonight. This was dinner. Baked sweet potato, sauted mushrooms, and cottage cheese. I am working on losing weight, I am working on eating healthy, and I am looking at lowering my blood sugars. I wanted something light.

Standing in my garage I took this photo of my emerging rock garden. It has been so far under snow I wasn't sure I'd ever see it again. There is hope for spring yet.

My view from the sofa. Meds are starting to kick in. I am spending the day resting. My doctor would be so proud, I am following directions. Going to be a lazy day and the way I feel lazy is a good thing. Lots of liquids and rest.

Yes it is as foggy as the photo shows. Rather rainy and glum. Great day for sleeping.

Jason waiting to celebrate his mother's graduation from college. He tells me I am his only grandson as his brother is only a half-brother so he is only a half-grandson. I do love his logic. The boy amuses me as you never know what he is going to say. He tends to be shy until he knows you, then watch out. He comes up with some zingers.

This is the look you get when your Granny tells you she's not going to be hugging and kissing you. He didn't tell me he'd just popped a cinnamon roll in his mouth.

As a little boy he would run across the living room and say "One, two, three attack," and come running to me and jump in my lap. I would tickle him and give him kisses. Until he decided he didn't like my kisses. I told him I knew he did or he wouldn't come back for more. Now as an almost teenager, not so much.
Love you, Jason..

So the 44 degrees yesterday did get some melting done. I can see the tops of both the well pit and the basement door. I can also see the grass to the north of the driveway starting to show. And believe it or not, I see the big rock in my rock garden and the top of my blue sun globe. Today's 23 degrees feels like 11, Is not helping. The wind is just making it slick. Glad I'm not going out

365 Photos Day 71

This is where I am right now. I've had more than enough winter. Ordered what I hope will be the last propane for a while. It is down from $3.799 to $2.799. Two hundred gallons was still over $500. Funny thing is I have only used 52 gallons more than last winter when I wasn't here and it has cost me more than double what it cost last year.

Although we were not blessed with the snow which covered Saginaw and south last night, we did get the 40 mph winds. The sun is deceiving, however I do much prefer it to the grey skies.

Digging up bones again. Pictured above are my Great Grandparents on my father's mother's side. Catherine Mae Hudson Henderson and Edgar Merit Henderson. They are the two people responsible for me tracing my ancestry search to begin with. My great grandfather died long before I was born. He and one of his sons were killed in a railroad yard after finishing work and waiting for a train to head home. It is believed they were murdered for their pay.
I was lucky enough to have two great grandmothers as a little girl. Both were on my father's side. Grandma Henderson is the one I knew the least.

These are two of my favorite sisters. Brooke is on the left and Rachael is on the right. I was lucky enough to teach both these young ladies. (I had their brother Thomas in between.). Today on my way from returning Jen to her home, I stopped at McDonald's in Rose City. I was lucky enough to get Rachael at the drive through window. I've not seen her since she graduated high school but she has kept in touch. I hope I have an opportunity to spend some time with her and catch up in the future.

This was one of my brunch companions today. We were celebrating his acceptance to Central Missouri University's Master of Arts program. I am so proud of him for taking this leap and moving foward with his career. Best to you, Donny. Do keep in touch.

This was my other brunch companion. Jen was celebrating water. She was four days with frozen water this week. It has not been easy. Her mom brought her bottled water to use in the toilet. I offered to bring her water, but she was tough and said it was under control. Her grandfather got into town on Wednesday night and first thing Thursday he was there getting her some running water. While all is not perfect she does have water.

I thank them both for being delightful companions.

365 Photos Day 60

This was Christmas day a long time ago (roughly 14 years ago). If Megan had a book, she was a happy camper. From the time she was 18 months old, I'd show up at their apartment and she would fill her arms to overflowing and say, "Read a me, Granny." Believe it or not she will sit now if I will read to her. She amazes me. She's smart, athletic, and has a goal in mind for her future. I see great things happening. Love you bunches, Megan Leesa.

Where the celebration started. A card from Mom and Dad, one from a friend, and the other from my church family in South Carolina. Thanks for getting the day off to a good start. Then off to dinner.
This lovely young lady was my dinner companion. Jen Evans has become my second daughter. We ventured to Bay City for dinner at Applebee's. Due to the collapse on Thursday of part of the Tanger Outlets our Applebee's was closed. We had a good time in spite of it being the coldest day of the year so far, and someone foolishly shaking the snow globe so there was snow from Standish to West Branch.

All-in-all, a super day. Thanks for those who shared it with me.
